While their painting styles differ, as does the scale their individual work, both share an enchanted sensitivity and seduction for the physical world, as well as a remarkable ability to transcend it through their very personalized forms of expression. Posted: 2010-09-07 08:02:56 EC Gallery proudly presents "Poignant Trash", an exhibition of new works by artist Connie Noyes. Please join us for an opening reception on Friday, September 10, from 6-8pm. The show will continue through October 23. "Poignant Trash" is part of Connie Noyes' new series "Human Steps", which
references the many disparate elements encountered in daily urban life - a
metaphor for the way in which dark affects light and vice versa, how the
sweet can become sickly if overdone and how close proximity to millions of
people, diverse cultures and visual images can both inspire and overwhelm.
It is a metaphor for tight quarters, pleasant or not so pleasant meetings
and vibrant energy of the city in contrast to shadowy and emotionally
difficult places.

Hello to start our 23rd fall season we are grouping 3 artists for 3 solo
exhibitions. Michael Ferris Jr., Frank Trankina, and Eric Stotik. All 3
artists work in a traditional format (painting, drawing, and/or sculpture)
but share an underlying forwardness in the way they approach their
particular subject matter through composition. They all mine the figure,
directly or indirectly, and communicate different aspects of art history
and personal narrative via their straightforward mediums. Each is
obsessive in their own way and manifests through exceptional technique,
which makes this one of the must see shows of the season.

Join us for the opening reception for our next exhibit, David Burdeny &
Yale University School of Art 2010 MFA Photography Graduates. The
reception will be held on Friday, September 10, from 5-8pm, and the show
will continue through October 30. The main gallery will hold a solo show
from David Burdeny's series Sacred & Secular. Sacred & Secular is an
ongoing series of photographs that depict urban edge conditions and built
environments throughout the world. Inspired by his personal experiences as
a traveler, the images serve to illustrate the often unpredictable link
between intention and perception - implying that memory and experience
play significant roles in our ability to perceive and thus give meaning to
the world around us. Galleries 2 & 3 will hold a group show from the
photographic works of the Yale University School of Art 2010 MFA
Photography Graduates.
